Patrick Serda Finishes €10,300 NLHE Single Re-entry Day 1 as Chip Leader

Season 13 of the European Poker Tour started mere days ago and it is scheduled to finish on August 28th. Meanwhile, it promises unparalleled excitement and the first stop this year is one of the favourite destinations of players namely Barcelona.

Although fans’ attention over the last few days was captured by the game action at the Estrellas Main event, there was yet another event worthy of checking. The €10,300 NLHE Single Re-entry tournament kicked off on August 17th and attracted a total of 223 players. As many as 186 of them invested in the tourney, while the remaining 37 took advantage of the re-entry option.

The €10,300 Single Re-entry High Roller is a new event that attracted a number of well-known names in the poker industry including Mustapha Kanit and Davidi Kitai. Since it is a brand new event, there is not a defending champion.

It is important to mention that even those players who did not go ahead in the tournament are enabled to re-ented today when the blinds start at 1,000/2,000 with an ante of 3,000. During Day 1 entrants played ten 60-minute levels. When they busted, they had the right to re-enter once again.

At the end of the day, the Canadian Patrick Serda was the chip leader holding 355,000 in chips. Although he is relatively new to this kind of tourneys, he was the only player holding more than 300,000 chips.

Liv Boeree , the PokerStars’ Pro, also took part in the tourney and finished Day 1 with 115,600 in chips. Patrick Leonard from the UK used to be the chip leader and he was holding around 200,000 in chips. By the end of Day 1, he slightly improved to finish with 235,100.

The other players who survived Day 1 were Sam Chartier, Mustapha Kanit, Charlie Carrel, Adrian Mateos, Ivan Luca, Martin Jacobson, Dzmitry Urbanovich. Apart from the chip leader Partick Serda, the other four biggest stacks included Marcin Chmielewski holding 289,200, Dietrich Fast, Roman Korenev and Ali Reza Fatehi holding 286, 600, 268,800 and 258,800, respectively.

The tournament will be running til August 28th. Some of the key events one should keep an eye on are EPT Main Event, NL Hold’em – Single Day, EPT High Roller. The tourney concludes with PokerStars Open held between August 26th and 28th.
